WASHINGTON, PA (September 16, 2013)—Nearly 150 华盛顿 & 澳门葡京博彩软件 (W&J) students spent Saturday performing community service, thanks to the College’s annual First-Year Day of Service program.

First-Year Day of Service is designed to introduce more students, particularly freshman, to Volunteering in the local community. Students donated their time to a variety of nonprofit organizations in the area, including Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA, 公民的图书馆, 华盛顿 City Mission and Dress for Success.

“First-Year Day of Service is a wonderful opportunity for W&J students to connect with their new community. The event allows for students to participate in Volunteerism with their classmates and introduces them to the outstanding community organizations,” said Justin Dandoy, director of Volunteer Programs at W&J. “Because these students are receiving an early introduction to service as part of their college experience, 澳门葡京博彩软件的教师, staff and students can help them to reflect on this experience and encourage them to make Volunteerism an important component of their involvement at W&J及以上.”
